THE CROFT This traditional style semi-detached cottage has a cosy oldie-worldly atmosphere and has double glazing throughout. It is located in the quiet crofting village of Melvaig, near Gairloch in a Designated National Scenic Area with the shore only about 200 yards away. The cottage overlooks the sea of the Inner Sound and Minch and there are excellent views of Skye, Harris and Lewis. The Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve and The Torridon mountains are just a short distance away and is a great place for walking.

Melvaig has a cafe bar/restaurant. The area's attractions include whale-watching and marine-life trips, including visits to the puffin colonies on the Shiant islands, salmon, trout and sea-fishing, a golf course and pony trekking. Also, bike hire, a deer museum and Inverewe Gardens, are some of the other attractions to name but a few.

INTERIOR Ground floor accommodation throughout Heating by storage heaters Comfortable lounge with feature stone fireplace, electric fire, two large settees, a standard lamp, colour TV with Freeview, VCR and a radio/cassette/CD player.

The fully fitted modern kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, toaster, food mixer, coffee maker etc. plus a good range of cooking utensils. There is an adjacent dining area with patio doors and both the kitchen and dining area have views looking out onto the islands.

Double bedroom with king size bed, second bedroom with lovely comfortable bunk beds, both rooms have fitted wardrobes and traditional furnishings. Bathroom with electric over-bath shower, WC, heater and heated towel rail.

BOOKING A deposit £75 per week is requested on booking together with a retainer of £45. The balance is payable 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your holiday. Sheets, pillow cases, bath and hand towels, and tea towels, can be provided at an extra charge. Electricity is metered and the amount will be deducted from your retainer. The meter will be read on arrival and departure. Bookings are from Friday 4pm to Friday 9.30am Parking space for 2 cars in front of the house. Well behaved dogs accepted

LOCATION The coastline around Melvaig and to Rua Reidh Lighthouse (approx. 4 miles north) is rugged, a haven for nesting birds, seals, whales and otters. Click here for a map indicating the exact location of the house. Torridon: 40 miles / Ullapool: 65 miles / Inverness: 80 miles Gairloch (20 minutes) has hotels, shops, doctors and a dental surgery. Fishing trips and guided hill walks available locally by prior arrangement.
